1 min to read ✭ In this post, we're sharing some insider tips on how to effectively boost your organization's Facebook posts and reach a wider audience. Tune in to find out how you can be enhancing your Facebook ad strategy.

While it’s tempting to promote your nonprofit’s Facebook posts by simply clicking “Boost Post” and setting a budget, this won’t be the most effective technique if you want to enhance engagement and reach. You could be leaving lot of data on the table that will help you with your future promotions and give you a better understanding of your audience. Here’s a quick step-by-step guide in how to more effectively boost your Facebook posts:

Step 1: Create Campaign Through Facebook Ads Manager

Go to your Facebook Ads Manager and click the green “+ Create” button in the top left-hand corner. This will open up a new Facebook ad campaign for you to create. From there, you can choose which marketing objective you’d like your ads to target.

Step 2: Create Lookalike Audiences or Custom Audiences

Next, move onto your building your audience. You can create a Lookalike Audience, which means your ads will target new people whose tendencies or engagements are similar to your most valuable audience. However, you can also create a Custom Audience where you can target people who have already interacted with your organization.

For example, you can target people who have viewed at least 10-seconds of a previous video that you have posted or even people who have directly engaged with your Facebook page. You have flexibility here, so just think about who you would like your Boosted Post to target and what doing that would look like.

Step 3: Use Existing Posts

Then, in the next step of your campaign, you will reach the part where you create the actual Ad. However, instead of creating a new ad, you will click the button that says “Use Existing Post.” From there, choose the Facebook post on your nonprofit’s Facebook page that you want to boost.

Step 4: Confirm + Publish Ad

Confirm the ad campaign at the bottom of the page, and you’re all set to go! By following these steps in boosting a post instead of simply clicking the blue “Boost Post” button under your content, you are targeting your audience better and will gain more valuable data because of it.
