New Hires: Getting to Know Linda and Jason

3 min to read ✭ In this post, we’ll learn about our two new hires, why they chose Community Boost, and what they’re most looking forward to.

What first made you want to apply to Community Boost?

Linda: Initially I wanted to apply because I felt like this brought in all my experience. I was in the nonprofit world, I had fundraised and I had a background in marketing. I feel like Community Boost brought all three things together and I’m also passionate about working with nonprofits.

Jason: For me, my first experience with nonprofits was actually on the receiving end years and years ago, so I’ve always felt that I needed to pay it forward. Getting the chance to come and work alongside nonprofits to help them really compete in this monstrous landscape of marketing is super exciting.

What are you most looking forward to in your time here?

Linda: I’m most looking forward to working with all the different nonprofits that are doing amazing things and making an impact in the world.

Jason: I’m really looking forward to giving nonprofits bragging rights when their campaigns and goals are hit. They work so hard and deserve to be congratulated.

What is one thing you’ve learned so far?

Linda: I have learned so many things so far. I think my favorite thing is learning about what the Google Ad Grant can do for nonprofits. It is really incredible and I didn’t know that something like that existed for nonprofits.

Jason: Along the same lines, I think it’s the ability to almost level the playing field for these people that are competing with for-profit companies for the same eyes on them. Learning how that is actually a possibility to give these people who have zero budgets a chance to compete with the people that are paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get in front of individuals.

What is one thing your coworkers might not know about you?

Linda: I was on the Ellen show multiple times and I’ve won significant chunks of money. I was one of the rehearsal game show contestants. We played this game where I got shot up ten feet in the air if I got a question wrong and I got a lot of cash, so it was fun. The second time, my friend had invited me to be a guest on the Ellen show and I went with her. I was super crazy and they called me back and they were like, we want you to try out for the game show. I was like, okay! I was fundraising at the time and didn’t have money, so it was awesome.

Jason: Mine is not that exciting. I was one of the speakers at my high school graduation and I gave a whole speech about high school graduations aren’t just about shaking hands with the principal, followed immediately by me shaking hands with the principal, so no one saw the irony in that.

What is your favorite core value of Community Boost?

Linda: One of the core values here is to celebrate life and I really see that. I think that’s what makes this company super enjoyable to work at. Everyone is so stoked to be here and everyone seems to really enjoy what they’re doing and celebrate their life outside of work too. I love that.

Jason: Be bold. I think that just nails it. We have to be bold to get these nonprofits to compete. It’s about finding those people that care about the missions, that care about the nonprofits, that care about everything that we’re doing. I think it takes a lot of forwardness and we have to be bold.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Linda: I would for sure want to teleport. I love traveling and to do it so efficiently would be awesome.

Jason: Mine is similar, but I would actually go with flying. I also love traveling, but I like a good road trip. I feel like if you could fly a road trip, it’d be faster, but you’d still get to see all the things that you want to see along the way.
