What Inspires Millennials, Gen-Xers, and Baby Boomers to Donate?

Nonprofit Tech for Good and Your Public Interest Registry put together the 2018 Global Trends in Giving Report where they released a ton of information about donation trends from the year prior, including what inspires different age groups to donate.
One of the most notable statistics from the report is that the top preference for donations across the board for each generational group is online by debit
or credit cards. Fifty-five (55) percent of both Millennials and Gen-Xers and fifty-four (54) percent of Baby Boomers preferred to donate online over other donation methods.
Additionally, Millennials and Gen-Xers are most inspired to donate by social media while Baby Boomers drew inspiration from email.
What exactly does that mean?
It means your nonprofit’s digital marketing strategies are working! Keep showing up strong on social and through email. By knowing what inspired your audience to give last year, you can more easily hone your tactics and ensure that your 2018 year-end fundraising efforts will be the best one yet.
